


As Vietnam's Sustainable Development Strategy from 2011 to 2020 with many positive achievements in support the production and sustainable exploitation of natural resources while minimising the adverse effects of economic activities on the environment. A new draft strategy of The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) set higher goals for the next decade, from 2021 to 2030, including increasing the area of nature reserves to at least 9% of the territory and restoring 20% of the degraded natural ecosystem area. This report from The State of Life on Land in Vietnam (SLOL-VN) for The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) takes an overview of the role of forests, biodiversity, and the harmful effects of deforestation and urbanisation. Based on that, giving recommendations can support the government in achieving its goals by the end of the strategy.
