About

World Wildlife Fund in Viet Nam

The World Wide Fund for Nature in Vietnam (WWF-Vietnam) is one of the leading conservation organizations in Vietnam, advising on solutions and supporting governments and partners to address the national development process challenges.

Vietnam is a country with high biodiversity value, with more than a thousand new species discovered from 1997 to 2007 alone. According to the assessment of WWF International, Vietnam has 2 out of 200 ecoregions of the world that have been identified as of global importance for biodiversity. This biodiversity supports the livelihoods of millions of people in Southeast Asian countries and needs to be prioritized for conservation for a sustainable future for people.

Vietnam is also home to 16% of the world's flora and fauna species, along with diverse ecological landscapes, including majestic mountain ranges, tropical forests, mangroves, and dry forests are ecoregions that need to be conserved for future generations.

Over the past 20 years, Vietnam has undergone significant changes with outstanding economic growth. However, many achievements in economic development have threatened or endangered many species and led to habitat loss and degradation, unreasonable infrastructure development and climate change. Therefore, conservation education, policy change and cooperation with businesses and communities are essential solutions. WWF Vietnam works with the mission: to stop the degradation of the natural environment and build a future in which people live in harmony with nature.
